a.k.a Brands acquires Aussie streetwear brand Culture Kings

Digital fashion brand a.k.a. Brands has acquired Australian streetwear brand Culture Kings for an undisclosed sum.

a.k.a Brands said in a statement that a.k.a’s platform will help Culture Kings “to accelerate profitable growth in direct-to-consumer brands by leveraging collective scale and operational support within an asset-light, data-driven playbook of best practices.”

Founded in 2008 by Tah-nee and Simon Beard in Brisbane, Australia, Culture Kings is a brand of streetwear fashion featuring an extensive and curated collection of over 100 global brands.

“Culture Kings is a leading digital and retail destination and exactly the kind of hyper-innovative brand that a.k.a. is designed to support,” said Jill Ramsey, CEO, a.k.a. Brands.

“Through their unique and immersive approach, Tah-nee and Simon have built a compelling business with a highly loyal and extensive customer base,” she said.

“As one of the most sought after streetwear retailers today, we see significant growth opportunities as we work with Tah-nee and Simon to introduce and expand the Culture Kings experience in existing and new geographies.”

Through the partnership, Ramsey said a.k.a Brands will provide Culture Kings the support and expertise on the business end, allowing them to focus on the art of fashion and the brand vision that customers have come to know and love.

“We are thrilled to have them join our portfolio of high-growth brands,” she concluded.

Culture Kings utilises immersive online experience and renowned retail locations. Each of its stores is hosted by a rotation of DJs and equipped with interactive games which are designed to create an exciting shopping experience.

In a statement, Culture Kings Co-Founders Tah-nee and Simon Beard said that their brand was built on their passion for music and fashion from different cultures and communities around the world.
