As a Sales Consultant, you will be working closely with the Senior Sales Manager and the Sales Engineer on activities regarding the project pre-contract phase to ensure a successful project sale. As part of the dynamic and multidisciplinary sales team, your goal is to identify and analyze the customer’s needs and transfer those into a successful sales concept.

During the sales process, you will have the responsibility to provide solutions regarding complex technical and business issues, especially data and process analyses, and concepts. You need to consult the client to find their best solution, create a competitive high-quality quotation and convince the customer to select your concept with Vanderlande.

  • Plays a leading role at the concept stage, is the expert, directs the concept and sales project team, comprising all the crucial disciplines for the sales stage (i.e. sales, engineering, simulation, service, planning, HLC);
  • Responsible and independent for the quality of the solution and the cost price (and thus also the margin) of sales projects, for projects more than 15 million EUR;
  • Has a clear understanding of cost calculations and overall costs of concepts;
  • Creates a business. Builds up relationships with decision-makers at a tactical and strategic level and is capable of persuading the customer to award follow-up contracts;
  • Provides functional leadership to a team comprising sales engineers and/or any other relevant persons of the bid or quotation. Takes on more challenging presentations;
  • Has the power to convince others regarding the chosen direction for a solution, where a number of viewpoints are considered. Is a brainstorming partner for the person responsible for area (sales strategy) and for the customer (concept; pricing);
  • Recognises risks in good time and ensures they are covered;
  • Monitors ongoing projects (business case);
  • Implements new/improved processes and tooling;
  • Plays a more advisory than leading role at the concept stage;
  • Multidisciplinary;
  • Is able to bring stakeholders on board in favour of the chosen solution;
  • Has mastered the standard methods, techniques, tooling and concepts. Makes an active contribution to optimising and updating the above.

Your qualifications and skills

  • As a Sales Consultant you bring to the table:
  • Successful career history in understanding customer logistic processes and creating concept solutions to meet the future needs of customer business;
  • Solid working experience in airports and/or industry-focused on end to end sales phase (i.e. sales, engineering, simulation, service, planning, HLC);
  • Ability to use logistic skills in analysing and understanding customer processes, creating concept solutions;
  • Has a clear understanding of cost calculations and overall costs of concepts;
  • Master’s degree in industrial engineering or equivalent education;
  • Well-developed influencing skills, both internal as external;
  • Strong sales focus with communicational skills, you have a creative and efficient approach to building professional client relationships;
  • Willingness to travel within short notice;
  • Ability to work within an international work environment and amongst different cultures, preferably a project organization;
  • Excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written. Professional proficiency in a second language is a plus.
