Virginia Birrell joined the Australia China Business Council Victoria (ACBC) as CEO in August 2014. Her primary responsibilities are to optimise the performance and strategic growth of ACBC Victoria and to ensure the 300+ companies who make up the branch in city, metropolitan and regional areas are provided with key training, policy advice and strategic networking activities to grow their business opportunities with China.

She has created a training program for SME’s and a Future Leaders’ Forum to assist young entrepreneurs to make the right connections and gain appropriate training to take their businesses from concept stage into the China market. She also established the ACBC Vic Executive Women’s Forum to specifically assist women doing bi-lateral business between Australia and China.

She works in close liaison with the ACBC Victoria Executive Committee, the branch’s sector-specific Working Groups, Austrade, DFAT, Federal and State Governments, the China Chamber of Commerce in Australia, the Chinese Consulate and with over 3,000 individuals connected with the Victorian branch.

She holds a Diploma of Business Administration, is a Board Member of the Australia-China Health Accelerator and Chair of the ACBC Victoria Executive Women’s Forum.
