New Retail ’19 Day 1 Highlights

Day 1 of New Retail ’19 started with a long queue to the registration booth, as more delegates registered on-site. The venue at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre was packed, with some streams at standing room only. It was a day filled with not-to-be-missed learning, and retailers got the chance to network with solution providers at the exhibition.

The opening of Digitisation: In-store and Online was lead by Robert Kinkade, Co-Founder of CX360, followed by a talk on physical retail by Steve Dennis. Alice Barbery of Universal Store presented on stage the transformation phase of New Retail in Australia. This was followed by Fabio Bertola’s talk on How to Succeed in Marketplaces, with his insights as the Head of Seller Services at Amazon Australia.

 

 

Suzan Kereere, Global Head of Merchant Sales & Acquiring of Visa, also gave a talk on Applying technological innovation to appeal to the New Retail generation.

Brittany Rinker, Marketplace Program Manager of Amazon, also conducted a workshop on Amazon Marketplace 101.

There were three streams on this jampacked summit – with a Main Stage theme on Design Thinking, Stream A on Agile Delivery, and Stream B on Custom Adoption. The following are our esteemed speakers with their topics on each session.

Following the afternoon break, there was a discussion on driving innovation through data and analytics by Kshira Saagar, Head of Analytics and Data Science of The Iconic. A leader’s panel was also held at the mainstage, which were lead by Jody Marshall (Walmart), Wayne Baskin (Booktopia), John Barkle (MyDeal) and Kristian Haigh (ebay).

Simon Torring, Director of Omni-Channel Innovation of Sephora, lead the closing keynote for the Digitisation summit.
